The "Jimmy"

For just 99p, you could be driving away in this absolutely beautiful 1943 GMC CCKW.

The Jimmy is one of the most iconic vehicles from the Second World War. They come in many iterations but are always instantly recognisable.

They are perhaps best known for the vital role they played in the Red Ball Express. This crucial operation was created by the Allied forces to support the rapid advance of American troops following the D-Day landings in Normandy in June 1944.

At the heart of the Red Ball Express was the mighty Jimmy. They were rugged, reliable, and capable of handling the rough terrain and poor road conditions of war-torn France.

The GMC CCKW features 6-wheel drive (6x6), three axles, 10 wheels, and a beautiful 4.4 litre straight-six engine.

There's even room in the back 2.5 tons of cargo - whether that be beer, or friends and family, you won't be short of space!

This Jimmy comes with a full rear canvas set, which includes the top canvas, as well as the front and rear curtains. It also has a cab roof canvas, rear cab curtain, a winch canvas, two Jerry cans, and a ladder to access the cargo area.

Now, we understand that this is a big lump of a vehicle and not everyone can keep one around, so we're offering a £10,000 cash alternative that the winner can opt for instead.

If you are worried about needing additional licenses to drive this GMC, don't despair, you can drive her with a standard UK driving license.

The lucky winner of this Jimmy will also be given a £250 insurance vouchers from our friends Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services, meaning you'll be able to hit the road right away, with the peace of mind knowing you're covered by the very best!

Our collection is stored securely and warmly at one of The Wheatcroft Collection's facilities and shares this space with some unique vehicles.
